Take control of your R code. RStudio is an integrated development environment (IDE) for R. It includes a console, syntax-highlighting editor that supports direct code execution, as well as tools for plotting, history, debugging and workspace management. In this video, I'm going to briefly show how you can install R on the Mac. It's a very simple process, it only takes a few steps. So the first thing you need to do is open your web browser and go to CRAN, this is the Comprehensive R Archive Network, and you'll see that there are a number of options for you to download here for different platforms. R is freely available under the GNU General Public License, and pre-compiled binary versions are provided for various operating systems like Linux, Windows and Mac. This programming language was named R, based on the first letter of first name of the two R authors (Robert Gentleman and Ross Ihaka), and partly a play on the name of the Bell Labs.
